Shinobi Country's
The Hidden Sand Village = Wind Country
The Hidden Leaf Village = Fire Country
The Hidden Stone Village = Earth Country
The Hidden Mist Village = Water Country
The Hidden Sound Village = Sound Country

Leaf Village
The Hidden Leaf Village is the largest and most powerful Shinobi village at the time. This village is also known as The Fire Shadow. Their Kage is thus Hokage, in which HO stands for FIRE. 13 years ago, the Hidden Leaf Village was attacked by the Nine Tails Fox Demon. It caused much destruction and killed hundreds of the best Shinobi of the village. Eventually it was defeated and sealed into newborn child Uzumaki Naruto by the village's most powerful Shinobi and leader, the 4th Hokage . The 4th Hokage died soon after the battle ended and since that time, power has returned to the village. The 3rd Hokage currently rules over the Village.
Hidden Mist Village
This is a very mysterious village and not much is kown about it. 'Twas commonly referred to by other villages as "Bloody Mist Village" for it's rumored brutality. This is the village also where Zabuza and Haku originated from before they abandoned it. A few tidbits about the training customs of the village were revealed from Zabuza's childhood scenes. It shows that the final exam to becoming a ninja is much different than the exam for the students in the Leaf Village. In order for a Ninja Academy student to graduate and become Genin, they must fight one on one with the same friends they trained with to the death. The only way to graduate is to be the survivor. But this all changed 10 years ago when one of that year's student killed over 100 other students without hesitation (we learn this student was Zabuza). This forces the Hidden Mist Village to change the final exam for the graduating class. All of their Jutsu is based on water. Their Kage is Mizukage, which means Water Shadow.
Hidden Sand Village
This village is located in the land of Sands. The Hidden Sand Village is one of the top 5 greatest Shinobi countries. Kazekage (which translates to Wind Shadow) is the leader of this village, and is also the one who trains Gaara. This village is commissioned by the lord of the winds. He has commisioned tasks normally reserved for the county's own hidden village to the Hidden Leaf Village, raising speculation of an attempt to dissolve the Sand Village. To re-establish the Sand Village, Kazekage teams up with the Sound Village and plans to attack the Leaf Village.
Sound Village
This village is ruled by and created by Orochimaru who is a very powerful and talented Missing-Nin from the Hidden Leaf Village. Orochimaru's goal is to one day cause a civil war between other hidden villages, but his true ambitions are unclear.
